A couple of sketches from last night

Managed to get the scope out for the first time in a while last night and did a couple of sketches.

Did you use any filters for the M27 sketch and also how dark were your skies?

Hi Mike,

No I didn't use any filters on M27. I do have a few in my ep case but never think to try them, perhaps I'll give them a go next time. Do you know what colours would be best on this type of object?

The skies are pretty poor in my back-garden, not least because one of my neighbours seems to feel the need to have a decorative street light in his back yard. I'm thinking of trying to set up some kind of screen to block the light from it, alternatively I might just get an air-gun  .

Hi John 

Try using a UHC filter, it should really help with your LP and I also found that it brought out the nebulosity around the 'apple core' shape, I also found it would take quite a high magnification.
