EQ2 complications

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Had my skywatcher 130p on EQ2 for about 5-6 months now and have never come across this!

When usually locking the DEC and RA clutches the scope is very sturdy and I could not move the scope by hand but, I have set up tonight and done all the usual setting up procedures, locked the clutches whilst focusing on a star and for some reason my scope moved out of the locking position?

I checked to see if id locked the clutched correctly and they were very tightly locked but the scope still moved by hand and not with lots of Forse out of its RA position.

I checked to see if the DEC did the sane thing and it did not and was locked in position.

Would appreciate some advice on what the problem could be or am I missing something and is this the way it's supposed to be?

Bungielad.

Have you made sure the bolt that connects the mount to the tripod is

tight, sometimes this can work loose, also apply a little lithium grease

to all the bolts, sometimes they tend to stiffen up when not used for a

while and it makes tightening difficult, also the screw on the R A fine

adjustment gets loose, if this happens it stops the scope from moving

so it is worth checking all the nuts, bolts and screws and applying a

little grease now and again.
