Flip mirror

Is it 'safe' to do the star alignment for a GOTO system through a flip mirror, using the flippable mirror to reflect the light path onto a reticle eye piece, or does the position/angle of the mirror slightly change each time it is flipped to subtly make this unwise?

Not entirely sure as I've not seen or used a flip mirror arrangement in any scope yet. I'd guess the reliability of it responsitioning exactly in the same place each time is related to the quality of the object.

In terms of safety, it isnt going to break anything so its 100% safe. Whether its accurate or not you can only know by trying.
