New forest

Just come back from a weeks camping in the new forest (sandy balls camp site) yes even the kids thought it was a funny name.

Next time I go will have to make room for a scope.

A really good dark site and a lovely view of the milky way....just thought I will share in case anyone is going to the new forest, might be worth taking a small scope.

New Forest is a great dark sky area in my experience.

I had the pleasure of observing in the new forest last week, truly some of the darkest skies I have experienced in this country and fortunately not too far away from me either.

The New Forest Stargazers group observe there regularly and are a very welcoming bunch.

There's a Fordingbridge group there too (unless they're one & the same) and Godshill cricket ground, near Sandy Balls, is a great place to observe from.
