Space telescopes of the future

This is probably old news by now but have you heard the ideas for future space telescopes consist a giant sheets with a giant hole? No lenses, nothing. Simply the sheet with holes the correct distance to focus it onto a sensor/collector

Ingenius idea (well, take on an ancient one) considering costs involved in shipping these things up there.

I also saw a similar idea where the sheet was actually hundreds of smaller holes. I'll see if I can find that one.

My favourite proposal is to use the Sun as a giant gravitational lens, which would - in theory - allow extra-solar planets to be imaged directly. The downside is that you need to move your telescope 50 million miles away, which would take about 100 years with existing technology.
