iphone adaptor

could anyone shed some light on this subject ? still very new to this and wouldnt have the faintest idea where to look for info about it. ive seen some youtube videos of images taken on video through an iphone . where would i get an adaptor from ? is it worth while bothering with ? or is it a waste of time ?
