Take your time. There are so many options and what you think you may want to do and see may well change as you find out more. If you have a chance to go to Star Parties, and there probably won't me many until the Autumn, then that will give you a chance to talk to knowledgeable guys. Unless you are absolutely sure you will be hooked, start small.
