Boomanchoo27
So while imaging Jupiter last night, I couldn't get a good shot at stacking like I would like. Do I need to get a motor so my scope can follow or do I just suffer with what I have. I am using an orion s 4.5 on an eq1 with a logitech c270 webcam. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Carl Reade
Hi Boom, when using a webcam in the eyepiece the magnification is very high which means when you find it it will move very quickly out of view. By the time you try to adjust any settings on the computer, exposure etc it will have disappeared. I would definitely say you need a driven mount. It can take up to 10 mins to get the focus and settings right and you need that ball sitting on your screen. Hope this helps.
Boomanchoo27
Thanks Carl, I have noticed that it does move very fast and once I think I have it adjusted it does move. I will be looking into the orion electric motor that they sell so hopefully I can take better pictures.
