Align and test guiding without clear skies?

Well, basically, with my previous mount EQ5 I used Google star maps to lock on Polaris. The alignment worked relatively fine. Now with NEQ6, it doesn't seem to work. If we have clear skies, Polaris is slightly behind our house. Any suggestions on indoor alignment?

Also, I am setting up my guide scope using ST80 and QHY5. Can you simulate real stars situation to test things (using PHD) and get them up and running?
