Removing RDF from Scope

Has anyone tried to remove the RDF from their scope?

I've got a Meade LT8 and the RDF seems to be permanently attached to the base which in turn is riveted to the tube.

I want to replace it with a Telrad and not have both on the tube at the same time.

Put the Telrad on the other side and have both. The Telrad can be fastened with cable ties until your happy with its position. I did that with my Meade ETX 125AT
