sun spots!

I remember seeing the Sun for the first few times. It honestly seemed like a giant orange ball at the time, but now it seems much, much more complicated and it's amazing to think of how big it really is compared to Earth. What filter and scope did you use to observe the Sun?

Cheers,

Josh

Hi Josh. I only had a Baader filter fitted to my Celestron CPC 800, but it still was impressive.

Are you any where near Flagstaff? Went to the Lowell Observatory last year and had a chance to look through the telescope that Tombaugh used (I think!).

I am farther south than Flagstaff, but my sister lives there. I went to the Lowell Observatory back in February and they showed us Mars through the big 24" refractor and with a 10" Dob they had parked outside that, I saw the Orion Nebula. Both were quite something. I'd go back anyday, if it weren't so cold and if Flagstaff could turn off their lights at night.
