Celestron Astro Master 114EQ help

hi i recieved this teloscope for christmas, but being totaly new to astronomy im not sure how to use it. had np setting it up but when i point it at something like the moon using the pointers, i cant see anything. not sure what im doing wrong.... is there anyone who can give me some tips??

Hello and welcome to SGL. The first thing to check is to make sure the finderscope is correctly aligned with the main telescope. Set the telescope up in the daytime annd aim it at an object in the distance (building / aerial etc). Now adjust the cross hairs or red dot in the finder so that they fall on the target object.
