Is that all it was? I believe it weighed about 500kg. At any rate, I was about 9 or 10 years old, and it was a Russian satellite we were watching for. There was more than one Sputnik, too. I think they have all reentered. There is one or more of the early American satellites still in high orbit. Some night when I have clear skies, I'm going to set up to watch for one.

Yeah, we usually get a week in August when it's 40 every day, then we get a week in January when it's -25 every day. Most of the populated part of Canada gets pretty warm in the summer, although only a few hundred km north of me, the ice on the lakes doesn't clear out until May. In Niagara, we re usually done with ice by April.
