This little gem appeared on Yahoo NZ news today. Supposedly there is a an occultation of a bright something tonight however a peek at the moon through 15X70 binos has revealed nothing unusual and there is nothing on the RASNZ Occultation website about any occultations tonight.

I especially love the description of the "event" by Yahoo. The highlite is mine. All of the text between the inverted commas is Yahoo. The guy from Carter Observatory must have a severe case of Cringe.

"Anyone gazing up at the sky in Wellington this weekend will have the rare chance to witness a magical star show.

The spectacle known as occultation is expected to start around 7:30pm.

It gives the illusion of a star disappearing behind the moon and then re-appearing behind a hill."
