First view of the Milky way aged 34!

Recommended Posts

This is my first post and it seems fitting to use it to answer this thread. About a year ago, I was walking in the Pennines having found my route far longer than I expected. When I had to stop for a rest, I lay down and after many years of looking for the milky way, it was above me, no doubt about it. The thought that I wished I had a telescope is what made me go out and buy one.

I took a trip up to the Long Mynd earlier this year specifically on a clear night to hopefully see the Milky Way and was just overwhelmed by the number of stars that were visible, with this magnificent milky band running across the sky. Was surprisingly chilly as it was early summer (if memory serves) but very little if any light pollution and just a wonderful experience. Next time I'll take a telescope :)
