Orion Object Locator-dead batteries

I have to remove the 9 volt battery each time I use it. It's not because I've left it on. If I forget there goes another battery. Has anyone had this problem? Or a fix for it. Orion wants to sell me a new one. That one is not in the stars. :) Pat
