NGC 6888 - Crescent Nebula Sketch

DarkerSky

Recommended Posts

Over a couple of dark nights in August and September I managed to track down the Crescent Nebula in Cygnus and sketch it through my 16" lightbridge. I used a lumicon UHC to boost contrast. It really did a good job in bringing out the brighter parts of the nebula. That said, it appeared quite elusive at times, and is overall quite faint visually from my skies, even with the aperture that I have. Really pleased to have got it at all. Some wonderful detail did pop out at my eye at times, including clumps of brightness that tracked up its top-left side and a puffiness to the lower contrast detail in the lower right.

16" x107 magnification

Sketched on Aug 20 and Sept 7
