Alternative to Concrete Pier Base

I thought I would post about my version of semi-fixed pier that I have done twice now and would like to share my experience.

When I first established a Roll off shed Obsy I was renting the property I did not want to spend time and money on a concrete pier so I went down the following route.

I had in my possesion a fullerscopes pillar mount similar to this - http://www.firstligh...s-mounts.html but without the wheels or adjustment bolts.

I dug a shallow Y shaped pit that the pillar stand would drop into, I then lined it with a layer of sharp sand, placed the stand on the sand bed and with a technique of jumping on each of the 3 base supports and adding/removing sand I got the stand vertical and well bedded down.

I then covered the 3 base supports with sand and tamping the sand well down until the ground was level, finally I filled the pillar tube with sand.

I have repeated the same at my new place - link - http://stargazerslou...ouse-new-setup/

On both occasions the pier has remained very stable and would take a serious knock to even move the pier slightly.

So if you don't want to spend too much effort or you are not sure of the final position of the pier, as is my case at the moment, I suggest this could be an pier placement alternative worth considering.
