EQ5 and motors

Hi

Sorry for the basic noob type question, but, if i add motors onto my EQ5 will i be able to set it to run constantly thus keeping a target in the ep (assuming the mount is properly alligned etc) or is it a case of moving it bit by bit by hand with the controler?

It would be good to sit it on say Jupiter, and it will still be there 5 mins later when i look again, rather than repositioning.

Yes, as long as the mount is reasonably well polar aligned. Assuming you're thinking of the basic set of addon motors and hand controller similar to that available for the EQ3-2, the RA motor runs at the right speed to keep the target aligned, but if you don't have your polar alignment reasonably close it will still drift off.
