Recommended Posts

HI i'm looking into getting amotor for my scope and just need to check

will this work with my Celestron Astromaster eq130?

Celestron 93522 http://www.shopping.com/Celestron-Celestron-Motor-Drive-Dual-Axis/info

or can i only get the single axis drive

Celestron 93514 http://www.amazon.co.uk/Celestron-93514-Astromaster-Motor-Drive/dp/B00039R23G

I think its got to be the single one but it sounds a bit naff from the reviews.

Cheers for any help.

HI harrysno1dad,

i've too have the 130EQ so might be able to help. The 130EQ is a CG3 type mount that - as i'm led to understand - allows motor drive on the RA axis only. Well, without performing a major mod to it anyway. Because of this, and for my want of dipping into the AP arena, I've resigned myself to looking for a reasonably priced EQ3-2 or better mount that will allow the dual-axis drive options, and a a polar scope too, if not full GoTo upgrade not possible with the CG3 of the 130EQ.

cheers, looks like the single it is then.

come to think of it i believe there is only one visible cog\gearing on the mount isn't there? I should maybe have checked that out. I'll have a look when i'm round at my father in laws tomorrow.

thanks for the info.

Maybe i'll just have to convince the wife that santa should bring me a skywatcher 200p on eq5 mount for christmas................ oh how i dream :-)
