I have a 6 month old labrador pup named Darwin, who loves to potter around the garden when I'm out with the scope or binos.

Yesterday, after being treated to numerous meteors of the Perseids kind, I noticed Darwin was looking at the night sky intently. Together we saw yet another cross the sky, and I felt an almost shared understanding with him on how beautiful it was.

Weird I know, maybe he was just enjoying pretty lights? Will we ever know?

I have 2 golden retrievers and on bonfire night when rockets and such are being fired they sat watching the show, and they seemed to be enjoying it. Sop yes, i can well believe your puppy was enjoying the show.

Maybe animals have their own form of SGL they secretly use eh?

Don't forget that dogs hear ultrasonics (mine is aware of a thunderstorm long before we can hear it) so perhaps he could actually hear them flying into the upper atmosphere?
