Eyes on the Sky: May 21 thru May 27

Recommended Posts

Just past it's new Moon phase - and eclipse! - on the 20th, the Moon revolves to the east and joins Venus in the western evening sky on the 22nd, making for two slim crescents, as the 2nd planet approaches its own transit across the Sun in a couple weeks. Draco, in the northern portion of the sky, is an oft-overlooked area to spot some double stars that can be picked off with binoculars or small telescopes. And don't miss Saturn as it slides past a colorful star this week.

Danny and Paul, thank you. I captured some video of the Moon near both Venus and a closer view of the Moon near Zeta Tauri the other evening when they were close together, in case anyone missed it due to cloudy weather.
