Sorry if I am preaching to the converted but this might be useful to some of you.

Jpg/Jpeg is a compressed file format.

This means every time you save a an image in this format it looses information. So if you save a jpg 10 times the file will be compressed 10 times with the resulting data loss.

So while you are working on images keep them as Tiffs etc.

Only save to jpg/jpeg when you have to!

it is even worth saving your original jpg immediately as a 16 bit tif and using the tif as a secondary master for all image processing.
