So I'm in trouble at home for potentially wanting to spend so much on an explorer 150p with EQ3 Pro goto mount. Advice on compromise options please....

1. Any reccomendations for a cheaper scope but still with goto ?

2. Keep 150p option but without the goto ?

3. Go ahead anyway and suffer the consequences ??

I can't believe you told the truth about the cost, you have a lot to learn

In my order of preference !

3. Lie and say it's the cheaper EQ3-2 version.

2. Buy the EQ3-2 version instead and keep the 150p scope.

1. GOTO mounts are expensive, you could consider a 130P tracking mount as an alternative.
