Help needed for a total novice

Recommended Posts

I hope this is the right place to ask this question...

I have a little experience with planetary imaging but I am desperate to start taking some deep sky images.

I have the kit but no clue!

I have read Making Every Photon Count from cover to cover and things are starting to make sense but I am wondering if anyone can suggest the best settings for a Canon EOS 1100D for something like the Orion Nebula to get me started?

Would appreciate any suggestions.

Regards and thanks in advance.

I'm in the same position with the 500D.

To be honest I just try keeping to one ISO setting and playing with the exposure times. If it's under or over play with them a bit. If you can't get enough exposure up the ISO a bit and try again.

Once you have one good shot you can try for multiple ones with the same settings adn stack them.
