Skywatcher AZ Syscan Goto - Mount Issues

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone,

I'm new to the forum and new to astronomy, so please go easy on me.

Just purchased a Skywatcher AZ Syscan Goto 1145p scope.

Firstly, is it right that I can only move the scope by hand in altitude ? ie. when I try to rotate it in azimuth it won't budge.

Secondly, when using the handset / motor to move the mount it seems a little temperamental. When auto-slewing to a target it is fine but when using the directional keys it very rarely moves in azimuth and sometimed not even in altitude. I'm using the 8 x AA battery pack supplied with the scope. Could this have something to do with it ? ie. not enough power.

Thanks

Steve

Hi Steve,

I have that mount with a 102 refractor - I do not think that you are meant to move the mount at all by hand; you may damage it. Believe that you are only meant to move it using the controls on the handset.
