I have the same lens, very good it is too! I would recommend using 70mm at F4 - that is the longest you can go with that lens and still get F4.Or you could use F5.6 and just divide the time taken by two - going down by one stop will give you a flatter field (and a tighter histogram curve).

Was going to give this a try last night, but as I feared and half expected the accumulated clag had turned a clear night into a yellow fog, with only first and brighter second mag stars visible. We need RAIN! NOW!.

I hate London.
