The moon, four planets and the Orion nebula!

Not bad for my first attempt with my new Skywatcher 130p! Really impressed with the moon, loads of detail, Jupiter and its moons also amazing. Venus very bright but Mars impressive. Popped back out later on to see a great view of Saturn - awesome!

What really blew me away though was the Orion Nebula - which other DSOs would people recommend in a reasonably light polluted area?

Sounds like you had a pretty good night. Have you had a look at the pleiades (M45) just visable with the naked eye to the right of Orion (for easy explanation). Also download Stellarium if you havent already, free software and very very good.

take a look at the clusters m45, m44, not at this time of year, but whe you can m31 andromeda

also m81/82 bodes nebula in ursa major is a hot spot for scopes

Hi mate.. Nice viewing.. I'm new to this all myself, too cloudy tonight.. but when you talk about seeing orion's neb whats your view in the ep look like? what ep you using?
