Can't see any DSOs in colour

Recommended Posts

A great thread.

I have only ever seen colour in planets and stars, never in DSO's - even at very dark sites. This was only with an 8" dob though. I know what others are saying about a washed out view from a newtonian. My first proper look at mars through my ED frac confirmed how much it out performed the dob. The contrast was so much better and naturally this made the surface detail and ice cap 'pop out'.

The colours I have seen with planets match what we see in images Stu, I haven't seen them as washed out as you say you are seeing them?

Rob (or anyone else) might be interested in this report of looking through that Subaru telescope! :)
