Daytime imaging

Tried using the scope as a 1,200mm lens during the daytime (lol), and found that the objects just over half a mile away were sufficiently washed out to distinguish much detail. Besides the highly pronounced UV haze (no UV filter) the fuzziness of the picture prompted me to open the collimation kit, which, as often happens, has confirmed that everything was in order.

I suppose there must be a reason for a £10,000+ gap between my "lens" and a dedicated 1,200mm telephoto...

Any thoughts?
