DSLR with replacement red filter

Recommended Posts

I purchased a new Canon 600D with a replacement filter (Baader BCF) from a reputable source. Sadly the camera focus was backshifted by a few inches. I returned it to be fixed but when it was returned to me the back focus was worse - now about 6 inches. Is this to be expected? I see the supplier has now changed his web pages to state that the focus will be altered by the filter 'upgrade', however the whole point of replacing rather than just removing the filter is to keep the focus correct.

I am now waiting (it's already been 10 days) for a full refund. I guess this is a warning to others and a request to hear about the experience of others. :)

Welcome to SGL.

Sorry to hear of your bad experience.

The reputable dealers i have heard about from those on SGL who have had the conversion done, are generally very happy. I can't recollect any who have had a bad experience.

Is it a dealer that has been recommended here. Not asking to name and shame.
