Asteoroid close call upcoming!

Another newly-discovered asteroid will be passing by us closer than the moon on April 1st (no, this isn't an April Fool's joke): 62 metre-wide 2012 EG5 will pass by at 0.6 lunar distances. Further details here: JPL Small-Body Database Browser

It's currently around 20th magnitude, but at close approach on the morning of April 1st it's predicted to be at 12th magnitude. Unfortunately for us in the frozen North, it won't be visible then, being at -55 degrees south. However, you might catch it a day or two before at mag 14/15 moving south fast in the constellation of Hydra.

And here's it's orbit and position on April 1st. Another close shave. It's only a matter of time....
