Just for fun... Very bright next to very faint.

Well the blessed fog has finally disappeared, with only a vestige of haze and mist here on the outskirts of brighton, It's not really going to be much use trying to image tonight so i thought i'd have a bit of fun....

I noticed that Mars and M96 of the leo triplet are just half a degree apart from each other and was wondering if it's possible to image something very faint next to something extremely bright...

Any thoughts?

The problem is that to produce the faint EG trio, Mars would be over exposed. Likewise, properly exposing Mars will leave the trio invisible.

True, you could take seperate, properly exposed images of both and then "stack" them in a final image but this would not be a true rendition of the view.
