meeting the neighbours.. carrying on from the planets..

Continuing from the planet post..

My next-door neighbour + his young daughter were out last night stargazing for the first time. They'd seen me out with the scope (usually imaging) but last night I was going visual.

After being blown away by the bands of jupiter through the pentax.. it was time for some deep space.

First up.. the nebula they could see with their eyes - M42.

I showed them stellarium and the images and locations.. we decided to star hop and find M33.. it sat there clear as day in stunning grey detail. I showed them the photo I've taken of it previously.

Lastly M81 & M82.. after a brief look around they popped into view.

Time for bed.. leaving time to show Sandrine the planets and DSOs before an early night.
