Last night the neighbours game around

It's really the first time I've taken both the Vixen (80x910mm) and the Pentax (105x670mm) seriously with planets.

Earlier in the day the next-door neighbour popped his head over and said that he'd borrowed his son's telescope for his young step daughter next door who had a school project on the moon (so no help last night!). So I said I'd set up for a quick look too.

After having a quick look at the stars through his 4" reflector I suggested having a look through the two scopes setup.

First target - venus - with a single moon and not much surface detail through the Vixen, the Pentax showed the curvature of the planet nicely with the Baader Hyperion 31, 13 and 3.5mm.

Next up - Jupiter - a completely different kettle of fish with the Vixen showing the moons and the planet but not really clearly.. the Pentax showed the banding on jupiter clearly in "colour" as if it was photo.. the moons hanging there regardless if the EP was 31, 13 or 3.5mm!

After which we moved on to deep sky.. a different sub-forum :)
