Patrick Moore allways recommends a reasonable pair of 10x50's and that was good enough for me to go out and get a pair of £14 Liddls Rockwell bins. You'll find you still use them just to get a bearing on an object before pointing the scope - and they're great for grab and go, or just lazing on a camp bed watching satellites :D
