was wondering if any one in cumbria or dumfries and galloway has a celestron nexstar 4se or 5se that i could have a peek through before buying, i have a skywatcher 200p / eq5, but i am looking for a portable scope as the 200p is far to big to drag around.

Would suggest a local astro club and see if they have one on use there one evening, however where are you?

Scotland is quite large.

And as you start with Cumbria I am willing to bet that 95% of Scotland is too far away.

Not too far from Carlisle.

If you are in the East of Cumbria then somewhere around Newcastle may be easier.
