Hi all, a friend has a microscope which will take images of 3D objects while changing the focal distance so that each image has a part which is in focus. What he needs is a cheap or free software that can combine the sharp parts of each image. At the university where he volunteers in archaeology they have a professional one but he can't copy it or afford it to work at home. Any microscopists out there who might be able to advise?

Many thanks,

Olly

Olly,

is the software for PC or Mac? If Mac then ImageSXM may be a possibility See Dr Steve Barrett.

This is primarily for analysis of images but I know that it contains stacking routines for Astro images, but not sure about microscope images.

It may be worth contacting Steve at Liverpool Uni.
