dslr settings

hi all - i am sat outside trying to focus in on jupiter as i type this but can any one suggest the best camera settings canon d6 eos . all i am getting is over exposed at 1/100 av which is making it hard to determine if focus is any where close

need to shoot at a faster exposure i would have said 1/100s sounds a little long try something like 1/250s - 1/1000s, or maybe drop ISO alittle say from 3200 to 1600 or 1600 to 800 , i have gone to ISO100 and 1/2000s for the moon when full.
