Placement and storage of LP filter

One of the astronomy related bits I received at Christmas was a skywatcher 1.25" LP filter, its seems to bring out a little more detail when I'm looking at some faint objects.

At the moment I have it fitted to the front end of star diagonal which saves me having to screw and unscrew it from each EP as I want to use them.

Is attaching it here this as good an idea as it seemed or is there some down side I've not realised?

I have always stored the Mak with the diagonal attached and cap on the end of the diagonal to keep the dust out, so at the moment I've left the filter attached to the end of the diagonal inside the scope during storage. I'm just wondering if others do the same or if this is a bad idea again for some reason I've not considered.

Thanks in advance for any thoughts or gasps of horror.
