Help Collimating a Tal reflector

I have ordered a laser collimator to check my Tal1 reflector.

But the eyepiece holder is slightly larger than the standard 1.25, so that Tal eyepieces will not fit another scope and other eyepieces are just slightly loose. The Tal is secondhand built in 1993.

So I need a way to wrap something around the collimator barrel to give it a smug fit. The diffence in dia. Is very slight about paper thickness so I could wrap a piece of paper around the barrel or line the eyepiece holder. What do you think?

Insulation tape . spiralled around works for most things

I second the pvc electrical tape.

I have found 1 thickness worth, is enough to bridge the gap between the 32mm of the focuser and the 31.75mm of std eyepieces etc.

Be aware that nothing beats a good old star test, for final mirror aligning !

Use a high power and put the star slightly out of focus and try to get the airy rings as concentric as possible.
