Filter Step Down Thread Size?

I'd like to use my SW 2" Light Pollution Filter on my Canon 1000d for some wide field work. My two zoom lenses have a 58mm filter thread on them. I've seen step down rings in the range 58-49, 58-48, 58-46mm. Does anyone know the which one I need to get to put the filter on the end of the lens?
