Problem with my Astrozap Flexi-Heat Dew Shield

I have a Astrozap Flexi-Heat Dew Shield for my 9.25, the shield has a cut-out for the Losmandy dovetail fixing, but as I now have installed a vixen dovetail on top also for another scope to go onto, there is no cut-out.

My man concern is if I make a cut-out for the Vixen dovetail is cutting into the heater band, has anyone had any experience with this situation, as i don't want to go a butchering a perfectly working shield to botch it.
