drifting correction ?

when i focus my 'scope on an object (say beletgeuse) i find that it tends to drift either to the top or bottom of the FOV after a while.

i have aligned it to polar north as best i can

my question is quite simple !

if the "target" appears to move up in the FOV, which way should i adjust the mount ?

i should be able to work this out myself, but can't think straight for some reason today !
