Cannon Rebel for video

Hello, my wife has a Cannon Rebel T3i , and I was going to use it for some astrophotography. Is it possible to mount it on the telescope, and use the video function, like a webcam to get some images?

I don't see why not!, you will need an adapter in order to mount the camera onto the ota. You don't say which ota you have or what mount it is on in order to guide it. I am not an imager but have quite succesfully mounted my dslr onto a maksutov for lunar / planetary images.

I am sure one of the experts in the dark art will be able to assist!.

Thanks for the reply. I was thinking on the Celestron NexStar 6 SE, but I have a feeling that will leave me wanting more. I really want a set up for imaging, so I will probably go with the Celestron C6-SGT, with the CG-5 EQ Mount. I haven't seen any threads on using the video function of a DSLR camera for imaging though.
