Networking a canon 1000d to a laptop

Recommended Posts

As soon as the clouds go i'm looking to start my first go at taking pictures.

My question is, as the scope and camera will be happy tracking and taking photos for an hour or so and me feeling left out with not much to do (in the cold).

Can i network the laptop so i can have it in the house?

This will still need to run the Canon EOS Utility so i can focus, and access setting etc,

How will i connect the camera to laptop? do you use a long USB extension cable (10m ones on ebay) or is there a better way?

Use an active USB extension - you can get them in 5mtr lengths and can connect up to 4 together.

You can extend the idea to scope controll via stellarium too and have a guide camera connected up too - all via a usb hub - only one lead going into the house ;)

Astronomiser do all the cables/hubs etc.
