Double Axis Help

hello all,

I was looking at the eq5 mount and it has double axis drive. I understand how single axis works but could someone explain how the double axis drive works. Sorry for my lack of knowlegde. I suspect its just me and its really simple.

The RA axis motor is the one that tracks astro objects (assuming that the mount is aligned properly). The DEC axis motor is usually just used for the odd nudge if the object on view drifts off a bit. Once you have an object in the eyepiece the RA drive ticks along at the sidereal rate unless you manually override it to. The DEC drive only runs when you ask it to.
