Buying 2nd hand Synscan

Hi All

What are the things to look out for when buying S/H Synscan mounts in the day ? I'm sure it goes with out saying at night you would do a quick align to check all is in order but is there anyway of checking the HC/MC when there are no stars to slew to??

Any feedback welcomed.

mmmm ... i would at least check it all powers up ok , and do a dummy alignment , the scope/mount will still react the same ! ,

look for exess noise , wobblyness ect !

I'm aware you can do a daytime align on the Nexstar GOTO for solar observing, is this the case for a synscan also ? although I don't see how this is possible unless there is a blue moon to align off ??

As above really, when I am resetting / cleaning my sct I will often put it on a table and check motors and clutches. Scope will react the same.
