Ramjo
HiBit of a silly question maybe, but the stated max load on an EQ6 25kg, is this just the scope or does it include the weights as well? Thanks for any replies
Bizibilder
The design "max load" is the weight of the scope(s) plus any cameras/guiders/etc/etc that you put on the mount. The counterbalance weights are not included. You can go to the maximum for visual work but most astro-photographers use a "rule of thumb" that says you should not exceed about half the design maximum if you want good tracking and guiding. ollypenrice
The 50% rule is about right for the EQ6 but, for imaging, don't forget that focal length is also critically important. It is not a premium mount and so needs careful attention if it is going to deliver accurate autoguided imaging at focal lengths longer than... (insert your own estimate! Mine would be about 1.5 metres. I don't ask mine to go beyond a metre but I dare say they can.)I'm not knocking a great workhorse of a mount, I stress.Olly
