RA Dial not rotating

Hi Everyone,

I,ve noticed that when I try and setup my mount in a good

home position by leveling the mount at say 18.00 hours locking down the ra dial and rotating the mount to home the ra dial is

locked and does not rotate round.

The only way the dial will move is if I slacken right off on the thumb screw, have I got a problem.

This is normal behaviour for the HEQ

Like you I also thought you were meant to lock down the thumb screw all the time, but reading through the instructions I realised that you only had to lock it down while observing an object so that the RA dial doesn't move while the telescope is tracking but unlock it before moving to a different object.

Thats settled my heart rate no end, what threw me was the dec

dial locks down when rotated so when the ra did'nt I thought I

had problems.
